Carrefour rumoured to be leaving India
| 26 May, 2014
Carrefour has hired consulting firm KPMG to help with the sale of its assets in India, according to local press.
According to the Economic Times, Carrefour has been sounding out potential buyers for its India assets in recent weeks after efforts to forge an alliance or sell its operations to New Delhi-based Bharti Enterprises failed.
Carrefour operates five wholesale cash-and-carry outlets in India and, after foreign investment rules were eased in 2012, it had been widely expected to set up a chain of supermarkets.
